A 27-year-old man has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court for defiling a 12-year-old girl.
Sani Mohammed, the accused, pleaded not guilty to the offence and has been remanded in prison custody to reappear on December 2, 2009.
Inspector I.A.A. Ahor who presented the facts of the case, said the victim lives in the same area with the accused who works at a 'washing bay'.
The victim's mother had been cooking for the accused for sometime now. On August 5, 2009 the victim was sent to collect money from the victim by her mother. On her arrival, at the accused’s house he forcibly had sex with the girl.
The victim was sent to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit ( DOVVSU ) of the Ghana Police Service, where a medical form was issued to the girl to go for examination. After investigations, the accused was arrested and arraigned.
