With last year's christmas full of tension due to the election, it is assumed or perhaps expected that this christmas will be more excitng. Having gained another spot in the world cup and also being the first African country to win the FIFA U-20 world cup brings enough joy for everyone to be happy. A visit to some Gift shops revealed that although this year's christmas seems to be filled with a lot of memorable experiences, the items on sale are not really different from what has always been on sale on previous christmas . Though there have been an improvement in them. Most shops have hampers,dresses in the latest trend of fashion, perfumes for both young and old as well as male and female.
Speaking to some men on what they would get for their girlfriends on christmas. Some men when given the option of a mobile phone, jewellery, teddy bear or take their girlfriends out on a date on christmas: Opted for a teddy bear with the reason that thier girlfriends will cuddle it when they miss them and it will represent them when they are absent.
Others, however, will take their girlfriends on a candle-lit dinner to propose to them after having dated for quiet some time. Some will rather spend the holidays with the love of their lifes and reiterate their love for them, as they hardly get the chance to spend time together.
Some Girlfriends on the other hand will for the first time ask their boyfriends out on a date and pay the bills. Others will buy something that they know their boyfriends have been yearning to have to show them the extend they can go to show their love. A few were, however, not so enthused about the christmas as they seem to enjoy themselves everyday and thus will be going out on dates as usual but not because its christmas. They will however thank God for a year full of life and fun.
With Parents most people said they will invite them to spend the holidays at their end. While others will rather go and spend the holidays with their parents. Some were however of the view that they will ask their parent what they would want for christmas and buy it for them, that it if it is within the reach of their pocket.
With all this opinions from people it is obvious that christmas is a season of sharing and caring. However it shouldn't be a give and take affair that you expect to recieve something from someone you gave a gift the previous year but rather be thinking of who you can give something this christmas. As the good book says there is more blessing in giving than recieving.
